C01: Choices, Choices, Choices

To all our loyal soldiers,

To clarify the above statement, the Council of 20 forced me to open the email like that, you haven't earned my respect yet.

Now is your chance to earn those ever sought after brownie points with the brass.

We have four potential targets for you today: the Smoke, the Circuits, Rivers End, and the Reeds.

The Smoke is an android factory that's been running without human input for about a year now. While we still haven't been able to control it, the idea of having a potential android army on our doorstep is unnerving at best. We've failed to capture it in the path but we might be able to overtake the facility. We might just have enough troops to lay capture it with these last couple of waves of new recruits. Our army is going to meet heavy resistance but I'm sure our loyal soldiers will cut through the tin-man army (with a few causalities but that's neither here nor there).

The Circuits is a black market for electronics that have essentially formed their own little empire. They essentially supply the Underworld Collective and cutting them off from the market will definitely be an advantage. However, there's a few things to consider before we go for it. This is an extremely likely target for the Underworld Collective as they will want to defend it. That in addition to the locals taking up arms means we'll likely be outnumbered. In addition to this, they can resupply their armaments through a their tunnel systems. If we get access to these tunnels, we can resupply troops from all corners of the dome. That might be worth the risk but that's up to you.

Rivers End is the water treatment plant that supplies the entirety of Atlaunder. We've held this region in the past but they claimed independence quite a while ago. We've found that last time we've tried to recapture the region they sent Atlas into a three month long drought. If we attempt to capture it, this will likely happen again. However, if we act fast enough, we may be able to shorten the drought by capturing it before they're able to deprive us of water for too long. Make no mistake, the workers have show heavy resistance before and this will not be easy. All I know is that I have a thermos of ice cold under my desk that no one else can touch so I'm all good in terms of a drought.

the Reeds is a village spread out amongst the river banks of the artificial stream that cuts through Atlaunder. Taking this region would give us direct access to the additional areas of Valhalla, Dusk, Overwatch, and the Crates. We can also recruit many of the former intelligence officers that live there now (some more willingly than other but convincing people to make decisions under duress is my forte). Like everywhere else, they will put up some resistance (but not as much as some regions). They are rather spread out amongst the river banks so we might find ourselves stretched a bit thin. That's for the commanders to worry about. It is a very valuable region to hold because we can push further into the east. It would also allow me to move my office to one of their scenic bungalows which would be a big plus in my book.

In terms of how we go about this, we can either go for invasion or stealth.

Invasion is quite simple, we charge into there with all our troops at once and catch them off-balance. It's quite simple really, fast and effective. However, it does burn our resources all at once and means we're unable to sustain a siege for too long. This is the most entertaining option and I already have the popcorn ready for the spectacle.

Stealth involves dropping troops in small pockets during a night raid. This will ensure that we can cover enough ground while not burning through as many resources. However, there is a chance that the operation is discovered and the enemy has time to prepare. If the enemy knows we're coming, it will definitely turn into a longer siege.

The brass is watching you so choose wisely.
