C08: Preparation and Treaties

Greetings from the Sea of Many

The Governed are clearly scrambling to fortify Atlas after losing their android army, making them both distracted and extremely dangerous.

Therefore, we sent out a treaty of joint occupation to the Underworld Collective. Our scouts were able to hand it to their scouts without issue. Below are the conditions of the treaty:

  • Both parties will agree to not perform military actions or acts of espionage on each other’s territories while the Governed controls Rivers End.

  • Both parties will supply their own detachments of soldiers to guard and defend the water treatment plant.

    • These troops can’t be made up of mercenaries or anyone who have previously worked for the Governed.

    • The equipment of these troops can’t be supplied with any weapons and armour of a higher calibre than an average ground soldier.

  • Both parties will elect two proxies to oversee the operations of the powerplant.

    • The proxies can’t have a military background and must be supplied from an engineering team.

    • The proxies can’t have any previous affiliations with the Governed.

    • The proxies are rotated out every 5 years and either faction will have access to the full history of both upcoming candidates.

  • In the event that Rivers End is invaded by a third party, neither party is permitted to move additional troops into the water treatment plant, only stationing soldiers at the border and exterior structures.

  • The restriction of water to any territory has to be agreed upon by both parties.

  • If any party breaks these agreements, it will be considered an act of war, giving the inflicted party the right to invade the territory with none of the former conditions applying.

We’ve peppered in enough favourable agreements while giving us enough room to enact any future plans. So, we will let your minds run wild in terms of any particular acts of treachery you would like to plan in the future. However, the most important part is that this treaty will avoid future water restrictions and Dionea will be safe.

We managed to keep the treaty a secret from the Governed as they were completely distracted with the fortification of Atlas.

In regards to Dionea, she is reaching the end of her water supply, she’s struggling at the moment but the Lady of Vines is quite determined to push through this crisis.

In lighter news, as per the poll in the Communications Server, Dusk has been renamed to the Roots. This is quite a delight as we have been able to shape the history of Atlaunder.

Before we start occupying Rivers End, we need to first think about fortifying our more vulnerable territories in the event that the Governed tries to distract us from Rivers End.

We have a few options: The Roots, Overwatch, and The Reeds.

The Roots would be the easiest target for the Governed as it is our newest territory and will be the weakest target that borders Rivers End. Additionally, securing it would mean that the Lady of Vines has a place to relocate to in the unlikely event that we lose the Crates.

Overwatch may not be in direct contact with any enemy borders but it is a vital resource for both our military and diplomatic intelligence. The territory falling into enemy hands would mean that it could be used against us which would put us on the back foot.

The Reeds is the only one of our territories that is bordered by both our enemies, making it extremely vulnerable. The territory itself isn’t worth much, it’s value lies more in it’s location rather than any resources it produces. However, if it does fall, it exposes both Overwatch and the Crates to an enemy invasion.

You have quite a difficult choice ahead while we wait for the Underworld Collective’s response but I know the Sea of Many will make the choice that leads us to victory.
