C07: An Honest Embarrassment
Greetings from the Sea of Many
Unfortunately, I have some bad news about our efforts to assimilate Atlas.
Our initial infiltration into the sewers didn’t go according to plan.
We were ambushed by automatons, they gunned down the search party.
Luckily, we had the foresight to have the infiltration party dress up as members of the Underworld Collective, so the bots didn’t report it as an invasion of Dionea’s faithful.
Our next plan didn’t go much better either.
We were able to commandeer one of the Governed’s Overwatch Drones, reprogrammed it, and armed it with a payload of Dionea’s seeds.
Once we sent it off, it was able to disperse some of the seeds but as soon as it got to the centre of the town…
…the Underworld Collective invaded the Smoke, securing the control centre. They managed to shut off the entirety of the Governed’s androids, including our Overwatch Drone.
It fell out of the sky, the seeds burning with it. Luckily, the chaos at the Smoke had the Governed too distracted to notice this disastrous mission.
However, we have some good news.
We have successfully terraformed Dusk, making it suitable for Dionea’s grace.
As a reward for loyalty to the Sea of Many, I will give you the option of naming this terraformed territory, as I believe “Dusk” isn’t suitable for this luscious green garden.
I will post a poll in the war-room on our communications server, linked below.
Additionally, this recent development with the Underworld Collective has given the Lady of Vines an idea.
Dionea would like us to reach out to Atiley Ona with a treaty.
This treaty would mean that we don’t attack each other's territories while the Governed occupies Rivers End. This would allow both of us to focus on the Governed. However, there are a few things we want to add that may stop a situation like this from occurring again.
We need to sort out the ownership of Rivers End once it’s taken back from the Governed. It can go one of two ways: joint ownership or autonomy.
Joint Ownership would mean that we own the territory with the Underworld Collective, importing our own workers and assigning a proxy each to run the water treatment plant. This would be beneficial for the both of us as we can both guard to territory while using it for both our needs. However, it may lead to conflicts in the future if we tried to do anything drastic in the area (such as assimilation).
Autonomy means that both factions will pull out of the area, returning control of the water treatment plant to the workers. We would both send weapons to the area to ensure that it won’t be easily invaded again. However, the drawback here would mean that it could leave Rivers End open to the Governed’s political influence. All they would have to do is back a sympathetic candidate during a Union election and we’re back where we started.
The Governed are likely to shut off our water after this treaty is signed, meaning that Rivers End needs to be our next target.
I know that you will make whatever choice you would
