C10: The Battle of Rivers End (Part 1)
Greetings from the Sea of Many
The hammer has fallen and we have been plunged into the depths of war.
You have chosen to give the Caver’s Grace to our troops on the front lines.
We have decided to be strategic, giving the Caver’s Grace only to the troops on the frontlines of the Roots. Dionea would only have a few days of water left but we’re gambling on capturing the main water treatment plant first. The area is heavily entrenched so even if we lost some ground, we would be able to get it back easily.
At least that’s what we thought.
The Governed had an absolutely disastrous trick up their sleeves. They set the border between the Roots and River’s End on fire. The smoke and flames blinded our troops as the Governed soldiers started blind firing through the smoke, pinning our troops down.
This was the right time for our troops in the Reeds to punch through to the centre of Rivers End. We caught them completely by surprise. The force that they thought was only there to hold the line at the border pushed up with thousands more troops. Their defences crumbled. It looks like the bulk of their forces were stationed at the Roots and the Circuits.
From there, the squadron from the Reeds pushed up the river, making it all the way to the southern side of the water treatment plant. This allowed our troops to fire at the Governed on both sides of the river. The Governed were squeezed out of the Roots and our soldiers in the trenches were able to push up to the east of the water treatment plant.
The Underworld Collective are struggling in the west of Rivers End despite having a really heavy hitting incendiary bombardment at the start. They were able to get a few battalions of androids to push further into Rivers End but they seem to be stuck in a stalemate at the minute.
From here, there are a few options to consider: Securing the treatment plant, blockading Atlas, or suing for peace.
Securing the treatment plant would be the safest bet, focusing our forces on encircling the building. This would give us enough time to turn the water back on and save Dionea’s life. However, this assumes that the Governed don’t have anything planned for the inside of the treatment plant. Additionally, this would leave Atlas wide open for the Governed to resupply troops. The worst case scenario would be the troops from Rivers End regrouping and taking back the water treatment plant, just to have them re-capture and turn it off again. Dionea doesn’t have long to live, her vines are greying so this might be worth the risk.
Blockading Atlas would make the most tactical sense, not allowing the Governed soldiers already stationed in Rivers End to resupply from their capital territory. However, this would be risky, as Dionea doesn’t have that long left to live and this would eat precious time. This might be worth it if it ensures that we can hold the territory for longer as we can intercept any supply runs. Dionea might just make it but we’re talking about an ideal outcome here.
Suing for peace is also an option. The Governed might come to the table on this considering that we have captured a considerable portion of the territory. However, peace talks take time that the Lady of Vines doesn’t have. Knowing Jerit and his crowd, they would more than likely use this as a way to stall for time but that depends what the Council of 20 wishes to do. They have been known to be lenient with peace treaties towards us but not so much the Underworld Collective. We would be hanging them out to dry but a knife in their back might be good for Dionea if they allowed us control of the water treatment plant.
We would highly recommend talking it over with the Underworld Collective in our Communications Server. A link channel has been opened up between us called the-alliance-of-fire-and-vines so I would suggest considering your options with them before proceeding.
While this has been widely successful start, we don’t know where our fortunes will go so we need to choose carefully.
