C11: The Battle of Rivers End (Part 2)
To those with our cause in their hearts,
The curtains close on the most historical battle in Atlaunder’s history.
I’ve been on the front line of many battles between the Underworld Collective and the Governed. I was there at the Smoke, I was there during their invasion of Level 99, and I was there during the Battle of Rivers End.
Our assault started from the north, the androids were easily able to clear out the Governed from the back of the dome, even going as far as to secure the north side of the water treatment plant. However, something caught me by surprise.
The Governed were retreating.
We were able to push them further and further back until we were halfway through Rivers End. That’s when the Governed started bombarding us from Atlas. They ended up just killing more of their own troops than our soldiers. While that was completely in-character for the Governed, the smoke and flames stopped us from pushing any further from the north.
There is just one crucial detail that they missed. We’re using androids, not humans. The androids were able to fire through the smoke while another battalion was able to encircle the fleeing troops from the Governed. Almost none of them were able to make it back to Atlas.
From my rough estimation, about 60-70% of the Governed’s forces in Rivers End were captured or killed. This is not only a historic victory for the Underworld Collective but Atlaunder as a whole. We have finally kicked the tyrannical government out of the most powerful territory in Atlaunder. The worst of this war is yet to come but at the very least, the battle is over.
The Cultivation Society captured the water treatment plant and was able to turn the water back on to the rest of Atlaunder. All our territories have access to clean drinking water now, thanks to all of our efforts.
I had a few of our scientists test the water and from what they’ve found, the water isn’t contaminated with Dionea’s seeds so the Cultivation Society haven’t gone back on their word just yet. Don’t get me wrong, we’re still on guard but we can at least breathe a sigh of relief.
I don’t know if they managed to save Dionea, I heard a lot of their soldiers died from exhaustion and they had to smash a water tank and transport the contents back to the Crates because they were afraid the water wouldn’t flow to her in time. I’m honestly not sure what would happen if Dionea died, maybe they would snap out of it or they might die with her. The cultists snapping out of it would be the good ending but we will know what happens in the coming days.
For now, we rest, sort out our candidates for Rivers End, and bask in the glory of a well fought victory.
