C10: The Battle of Rivers End (Part 1)

To those with our cause in their hearts,

Throughout my years of battle experience, I have learnt one thing above all: The hand that moves slowly is the spear that moves with tact wins against the spear that moves with speed.

We evacuated the merchants and let them expand their stands into Valhalla so they can still operate their businesses while the conflict is ongoing. The initial push into Rivers End was started by a bombardment from our incendiary cannons along the border of the Circuits. The smoke gave us cover to push into the defending army, we sent volley after volley into them, forcing them to recede further back towards the water tanks. Then, it was time for the androids.

The android battalion pushed them back further, being able to withstand the fire, they walked through the border and just kept blasting. From there, the bots were able to extinguish the fires enough that our regular troops could get through and join up with the androids.

While this was going on, the Governed started a fire n the Roots that nearly spread to the centre of the garden. However, the Cultivation Society managed to punch through from the south and squeeze out the Governed from the southern and eastern walls of the main treatment plant.

The plan from there was to divide and conquer the Governed in Rivers End. However, that has proven to be troublesome. I was planning to focus the androids on the centre of the line and get them to punch through the middle of the Governed’s defences. However, that has proven difficult as the Governed seemed to have strengthened their forces with those who retreated from the east. We will just have to push harder.

From here, we essentially have three options: Blockade Atlas, Push the centre, Push the north, or Sue for peace.

Blockading Atlas would mean pushing the southern wing of our forces to cut Atlas off from Rivers End. This would stop Atlas from resupplying. However, this would mean that we’d be fighting fresh troops along the Atlas/Rivers End border. This would also stop any Governed troops from escaping, turning Rivers End into a meat grinder as we close in on the remaining army. That prospect might just be worth the Atlas forces punching through.

Pushing the centre means trying to break through the centre of the Governed’s defensive line again. This would mean that we can split them off into two manageable pieces. This would be quite difficult to do as the centre is very strengthened and this would let some troops retreat to Atlas. However, this would allow us to push them further back to the wall of the Dome. This would mean that any resupply would need to fight through a much thicker wall of our combined forces. We might be able to do this but it will be risky.

Pushing the north would mean taking the bulk of our forces and placing it on the northern wing of our attack. This would mean that we can push the Governed back from the wall and even get to the north side of the water treatment plant. This would allow us and the Cultivation Society to raid the treatment plant as a joint force. This would help us combat whatever the Governed have in store for us but this would allow their troops to retreat to Atlas but the risk might just be worth it if it means we can fully secure the water treatment plant.

Suing for peace is also an option. The Governed might come to the table on this considering that the alliance have captured a considerable portion of the territory. However, knowing Jerit, they would more than likely use this as a way to stall for time while they resupply troops, detonate 1000 bombs all over Atlaunder, or something along those lines. They hate our guts (and we hate theirs) though so they might decline it outright. This would avoid any further bloodshed and it’s unlikely to stop the war outright but this all depends on how much you trust the Governed.

This decision could affect the outcome of the whole war. I would suggest discussing it with the Cultivation Society representatives in the Communications Server. We have opened a line of communication called the-alliance-of-fire-and-vines. Whatever you choose, I know it will be for the betterment of everyone in Atlaunder.
