C05: Blackmail and Crisis

Overwatch has come in handy, it made distribution of Atiley Ona’s leaked messages so much easier.

We sent out notifications to every phone in Level 99 and the Circuits exposing Atiley Ona for taking money from the Governed before becoming the Level 99 cell leader.

We’re sure that she will have a valid explanation for this but it will still sow doubt among her follows and if we’re lucky, leave her vulnerable to assimilation.

While we were distributing blackmail, Rivers End discovered our plan, they were about to shut off our water when the Governed conducted a night raid on the territory.

This distraction bought us precious time to stockpile more water in the event of a shutoff.

However, to our shock, the Governed were able to capture Rivers End, leaving them in control of Atlaunder’s entire water infrastructure.

From what we can tell, they will more than likely fortify Rivers End instead of expanding into any further territory, this leaves Dusk wide open for us to take.

This leaves us with a few potential targets that could cripple them or bolster our defences: Dusk, Valhalla, or the Smoke.

Dusk is a relatively barren land, hosting a small subterranean population. Recent soil tests have indicated that the area is suitable for Dionea to grow. This means that we could construct a second greenhouse, giving the Lady of Vines territory to expand into in the event that the Crates is ever compromised. In addition to this, it can act as a buffer zone between Rivers End and Overwatch when we attack the Governed. However, because of the size of the community, we would have to invade it instead of assimilation.

Valhalla would be an interesting target, considering the large amount of wealth and firepower stored in the territory. We know the Underworld Collective won’t give it up without a fight. Taking this territory would mean that we can encircle the Smoke. The only potential issue with this would be that it gives the Governed enough time to ramp up production. It’s risky but it may prove strategically vital if the battle expands further than Rivers End.

The Smoke is a vital resource for the Governed, producing android soldiers for their army. They would no doubt increase production to fortify Rivers End. If we are able to take control of the factory, the Governed will be severely crippled. However, knowing this, they will fight to protect the factory. There is even the possibility of them making androids to defend the territory at a faster rate than we can send troops.
