C06: Through Tunnels and Water

Greetings from the Sea of Many

The battle of the Dusk will be remembered for centuries to come.

We invaded the territory with an efficiency Dionea herself would be proud of, clearing all above ground structures and settlements. However, the residents seemed to have retreated to the tunnels.

We tried to follow them but they escaped and embedded themselves further down the tunnels. We decided to retreat from the subterranean paths and focussed on securing the ground level.

The residents that hadn’t yet escaped put up a valiant fight but the sheer number of Dionea’s faithful overwhelmed them. By nightfall, we had the territory fully occupied (with an exception to the lower ground).

After we secured the territory, we received a message from the Council of 20.

“Put down your arms, submit to our occupation or we will shut off your water.”

If the water is shut off, we have enough water in reserve for Dionea to last two weeks. However, that would mean many of our followers dying of thirst.

We have to act.

We have a few targets in mind that would rattle the Governed: The Smoke, Atlas, and Rivers End.

The Smoke produces their gigantic robot army. If we were able to disable it entirely, their androids, overwatch drones, and unmanned weapons would become nothing but scrap. As there is no one there to assimilate, we will need to invade the territory. However, if there is any delay in capturing it, Dionea’s life could be at risk.

Atlas is the capital of the Governed. If we captured it, we could assimilate the population (potentially even the Council of 20). However, they will defend this territory to their last man. In addition to this, they have also started testing food and water for Dionea’s seeds after what happened in the Reeds. Assimilation would have to happen through either their sewer system or through air dispersal. Both are very unreliable methods of assimilation but it’s all we can do.

Rivers End is their water plant, controlling this would mean that we would have control over their water systems. However, considering that the threat was so provocative, this is likely what they would want us to attack. This would save Dionea’s life so the risk would potentially be worth it.

May Dionea guide your hand towards victory.
